Little Blue Traveler (or OTG)

Starting a new Thread about our little bus. It's been in the same configuration for a little bit and it's time for some upgrades. We recently bought a full size bus started work on it and then realized the shorty was all we needed for now. Time to install a battery Bank, inverter, some solar, fridge, etc. Here is the link to our original thread.

First on our list of bus enhancements is to build a rack to hold for 6 volt golf cart batteries under the bus. Looking forward to doing that in the next few weeks.

Turns out a trip to the junkyard was super productive. My friend Josh helped me score a 1989 12v or 110v fridge for $20, I found a newer drivers side door for $50, and Josh got nice bucket seats for $20 each. I also picked up some angle iron to make my battery box. Hope to start on that last weekend in October. Great thing about the blue being spray paint is its easy to color match the new door.

Door looks great! I'm about halfway through mounting the new passenger seat onto the swivel platform. Next sunday I should get that done!

Now my bus has a power window door so I had to figure out how to wire a power window. Found a great diagram online, salvaged some relays and a rear power window switch out of a Jeep Cherokee, and spent an evening making very short wires. Tucked the assembly into the bottom of the door and taped a sandwich bag around it to keep water from dripping on it. Now my window works and I wired it to a battery power spot in a fuse box so I don't even need the key on to operate it.

probably has a power lock too.. you could wire up a remote and be able to lock the bus remotely

Got a lot of work done on my battery box today. Will easily fit for 6 volt. Had a grinder disc shatter lucky I had my face shield and gloves on. No injury. Once I buy my batteries I'll make racks for them inside the Box.

Got my battery trays tonight. Well almost done. Got to make the tie downs. And start wiring everything up tomorrow evening.

Went together as planned. My slightly used 3000w inverter shows a fault once in a while and the fridge shuts off. I've got to figure out if its the fridge causing it or the inverter. Charging on the road works great too. I have a 80amp breaker at either end of the 4 ga cable that connects the start battery to the house batteries. I also hace a 120 amp continuous duty solenoid inline so I can disconnect the batteries.
