Are there any secondary reasons for led's? Like they kind of blind cameras and foil the facial recognition systems that big brother is using?

Hey Low: Bus is looking better every day. What is the paint color you chose, (like it!). Is it an OEM color or something you had mixed-up? Sorry couldn't find a reference to it in any of your posts.

Thank you!
Its rattle can, Rustoleum calls it Satin Nutmeg. The military/security industry calls it Coyote
It was the second choice for my Suzuki VStrom, my first choice ended up Rustoleum Satin Oregano, which is also known as Flat Dark Earth

I don't know of a regular LED per say, but I do know that the transmitter bulb (I think it is a higher frequency LED) from a TV remote will blind a video or still camera if it is on. So if you were worried about doing something questionable and wanting to be "unseen", line your license plate and windshield with those..... of course you'd have to figure out a way to mount and power them!

Nice Strom! I was going to buy one when I was looking for my current ride but ended up buying a 2004 BMW K1200RS. The beamer is great for the touring I do, but costs $$$$ for maintenance. Is yours a 650 or 1000?

Thanks!
I went with the 650 after reading reviews by owners of both. 650 is better in dirt, lighter and better on gas. The 1000 is better for passenger hauling and has had quite a few recalls that didnt affect the 650.

I already have remote controls duct taped all around my license plate.
You can actually buy a hat or cap with led lights and battery for the specific purpose of blocking facial recognition. Apparently that lets some people avoid ATM cams. As far as I am aware standard led's work for blocking cameras, but I've been mislead at times.

I did a lot of research on the Stroms when looking a few years back. The 1000's at the time had numerous issues and were not recommended. They stopped making them for a few years and just came out with an updated version last year. Haven't looked into the reviews to see how it is doing compared to the old version. The 650 has always had rave reviews and is a solid bike for an affordable price. Lot's of aftermarket gear available for it too. I will probably move to a 650 Strom or something similar once I get my skoolie built so I can have a good bike to carry that doesn't take up too much space.

Check out Kawasaki KLR250's. They're tough, quick, and CHEAP. We just got a NICE 93' KLR for $900 and its a beast for the money.

Those are 2 completely different bikes, although a KLR650 is a great budget choice if a DL is out of your range.

I was actually talking about KLR250's, not 650's.
The two fiddy we just picked up will easily do 90+ with me and Roxy on it.
The 650's are great, but cost more money and I've always preferred smaller, more nimble stuff for actually riding trails.
I'm fitna slap some knobbies on one of my Tomos mopeds. Thats how light I like em.

I realized that, but a 250cc on the highway is no comparison for having a 650. Just as I would rather have a 250 or my 300 on dirt, much easier to handle than my 650 twin.

During our trip down to Hollister I found that the passenger door opening mechanisms were vibrating alot. Looking it over the last 2 days, I found fasteners loose, a poor repair by the school district and just poor supporting. After taking some measurements, I was able to shorten the length by 3.5" and still keep it easy to operate. Only the length of the arm shortened, the supports did not have to move, which means that the 18" hanging past the last supports no longer have as much leverage. I also tightened everything up, so there shouldnt be any drafts coming thru and the road noise might be lowered. After I took care of all that I lubed all the freshly cleaned moving joints and then adding a little moto geek "bling"! Added bonus is now having easy access to all the cupholders and cubbies on top of the doghouse!

A 250 would be OK for around town but not for any long rides. The last several bikes have been Harleys. The 650 is already going backwards. A 250 is way smaller than I would be comfortable with on long freeway rides.
This is what the DL650 looks like. Not THEE bike but similar age and color.
