Over the weekend we got the whole lower half of the bus painted brown. Gotta complete the cab and the top half then hit the trim with black and it'll be done. Its a huge task!
Also accomplished getting the passenger seat mounted with forward, 90*left and reverse locking notches cut in the swivel. As well as making the inside a complete disaster! I know what I am doing for the next couple days after work.
These are the bulb housings I got off Ebay a while back. They are drop in and upgrade the headlights to an H4 bulb, with LEDs(can be wired to running light, turnsignal or any source). It is a glass lens, so no polishing every few years like composites! I just received the Cyclops Adventure Sports 3600 lumen LED bulbs for them!
Ive been running these bulbs in my Vstrom for a year with no issues, plug and play!

Love the bus. I am currently doing the same thing. I picked up a 1990 30' Bluebird with a 12 valve cummins just to haul bikes. It has the side wheelchair lift in the rear, and bikes fit in perfectly sideways. (Bus came with tie-straps and rails built into the floor). I once converted an old motorhome to a hauler, but it was a major POS, and a PITA to use with 4 bikes loaded. Keep up the awesome work!!

Travertine huh? That's kind of hard to follow. That paint job looks really nice.
I like the extra lights too. Have you thought of replacing the old large high up blinkers with lights?

In many states, driving (white) lights up that high are illegal.

They are in CA. They don't even have to be on. I'm sure that's why he has them covered.

So your point is it's illegal to replace those large blinker lights with headlights? But at the same time it's ok if three lights are mounted in between the original stop/blinker lights? Someone better warn the 4x4 community.
I've seen old timers put headlights in those high up blinker positions. Don't know if they got in trouble or not. I don't believe they used those additional lights for driving, rather using them as fog lights in front or back up lights in the rear.
I like what Low did with the lights but they don't appear to be covered, and considering their current position I can't imagine that they would be any more or less legal if they replaced the old blinkers. Low just gave his bus a uni-brow.

I'm too tired to explain my post if that is what you are referencing. Read it again.
Just because people do things doesn't make it legal. I see people put blue lights on their cars, even forward facing ones. Only cops can do that in CA. Fire and ambulance can't do that.

Might be cause most off-roaders aren't 12 feet high.

Tango; the very top of my blinking lights are 8' 4" off the ground, not 12 feet, and that's comparable to the height of the fog lights of many four wheel drive trucks.
Crazy; don't need to read your message again. You wrote very simply the first time. You don't need to be insulting just because I don't agree with you. People don't generally use fog lights while driving around in public. I think there's a distinction between driving lights and fog or utility lights.
Low; I think Low probably uses those lights in the appropriate setting. A question for Low. Are those three lights covered? I don't see anything illegal about them.

I wasn't being insulting. I am tired. His lights are covered. He is in CA. He is completely legal. Drive with those lights uncovered and he is outside the law. He might pass 2000 officers before one decides to pull him over and write him a fix it ticket. That's the way it works.
As far as the 4x4 community is concerned, they can figure that out for themselves. I see some of their trucks that they thinks are sooo cool but have dozens on violations. My motto is live and let live, except for the douchebags with their stacks rolling coal. If I was a cop, I''d have those guys pulled over in a heartbeat. It's because of jerks like that our diesel trucks need to get smog checked. Pages of violations they would get. Headlight height, tires sticking out past fenders, the list would go on and on and on.
What did your mother tell you when you were little and you got busted for something? "Just because Johnny did it, doesn't mean you can too. If Johnny jumped off a building, would you do it?"

I like the idea of the wire shelving in the overhead. Sure gives you more storage space.

There are a number of closet organizing systems at the home stores that seem to have this type of wire shelving. Excellent idea.

Most home improvement box stores will cut to fit the wire shelves. Kinda handy for space and time with blankets and such.
