Here it is. My build thread. Picked up this beauty in PA. Maiden run state to state for the little bus. After I got this loaded and made my way back to 95 I stopped for fuel and an hour later stopped just north of Washington at a rest stop for a nap before making my way back to south Florida. After my nap the I couldn't get the 7.3 to turn over. The 30 year old starter decided to self destruct. Luckily There is an IH truck center about 5 minutes from me. Ordered a new one $450 plus core. Get it following morning via Uber. Not so bad of luck

Are you kidding me? That's real??? Shouldn't the big truck be pulling the little bus?

That trailer has to weigh 5K empty (5,600, I looked it up). Brake controller, I hope???

Wowsa.

I grew up on a farm. Grand father was a farm equipment dealer for 40 years. Ive been driving heavy equipment since the age of 10. You have never met anyone else like me. Nor will you ever. This is actually nothing. Pulls pretty well. I pulled 6 gravity boxes with a bronco once 20 miles to the grain elevator and I pulled 2 26" dumps with a 425 cumming weighting 165,000 gross everyday for several years. The tractor was about 12000lbs 50 tons of payload. Not kidding. Thay being said. This is probably the heaviest load that I will ever haul with this bus in this configuration. I'm guessing the load is just under 20,000. Relax. I installed a 20,000 lb hitch Lol. And yes I have a trailer brake module that works very well. When I test something I test it. Without fear! These are big trucks just because one is a bus makes no difference.

Getting back to the build. After doing a little reading and taking a few measurements. I've come to the conclusion that the donor is ....a perfect donor. The oil pan from the mv404 gas engine and pick up tube is even a swap. It looks like the same motor as the 7.3. So I checked out a few threads on the subject on binder planet and sure enough. I can even use the smog pump bracket for the air conditioning pump. Nice. Because the engine swap will be last. This 7.3 is a runner for now.

so you are swapping what to what? the 7.3 diesel into the truck and the bus becomes a gasser? or opposite?

or the bus is just a donor for a truck build?

that bus has dashboard A/C?? (I noticed mention of an A/C pump).

Sounds good, was just shocked. Like my grandpappay used to say, "it's not the pullin', its the stoppin". They size brakes based on max anticipated load x safety factor.

Interesting Perdue study about that little 3/4 hitch pin holding it all together.

I am relieved to hear you used a Weight Distribution Hitch, every bit helps. Stay safe !
