Not very computer savay but am going to try to attach some pics of my short bus. It is still a work in progress but we use it several times a year to go camping.
It threw a rod on the way back from Colorado last year and I have built a new motor. Its a 350 making 400 + ft lbs of torque at 2500 rpm. I also installed headers and full dual exhaust with glass packs. It will now pull my Jeep with no problems. It has a 465 four speed with a 2 speed rear end which limits me to about 55mph at 2800 rpm. I am looking at installing the ranger torque splitter from advanced adapters to give me an overdrive. Anyone out there have any other ideas other then replaceing rear end gears?
I got the seat form a local bus conversion shop. The shop does tour bus conversions and had lots of stuff real cheap they had pulled out of refits. The seat was only $25 and bolted directly to the old bus base. Also got a great jack knife couch for $50.
Thanks guys, no the skull shift knob is not factory. I used to drive this bus on a school route when I worked for the district and being an old hot rodder had a thing for small block chevys and four speeds. The bus sold at an auction several years ago when I was off truck driving and I missed it. Two summers ago I was driving past a junk yard in a near by town and saw it sitting there. The owner was going to use the drive train to fix one of his dump trucks but never got around to it and $1000 dollars later I was driving it home.
I bet it is a lot more comfortable with that seat in it now. I found a really sweet cobra shift knob for my bus, but my wife wouldn't let me get it. I may have to settle for an eight ball or something less 'scary'.
Hey you just tell your wife that the driver gets to pick the shift knob. Here is a goofy video I made after building the new engine. Gives everyone a better idea of what it looks like. We will be painting it something other then white in another month. Only took me and the kids a weekend to scuff and paint it white but now it looks like a prison bus with my kids hanging out the windows. On the drivers side we will be removing the jack knife couch and hide a bed and building bunk beds in the back by the bathroom and a convertable double bunk in the front with a bunk over it. Should make it more user freindly because now with the hide a bed pulled out you cant get in and out through the front door.
