Re: My 1990 Ford E-350 Goshen Bus

so another "not makes me happy" thing is the steering column.. when i had it to crappy tire (Canadian tire) i had the alt and starter replaced (which work wonderful now) and after that was all done now when i turn the key on everything is fine, but when i turn to the start position there is just nothing there. no spring load or stopping till its really gone far past. I've gotten past this by jumping the starter solenoid under the hood but its annoying. the bus oddly enough did have a command start installed and it kinda works but not really. it turns on, waits for plugs then crank and done. no crank crank crank vroom...

so the great debate.. do i pull the column that is in it, try to find another one with a still working cruise control and tilt steering or do i just put in a bypass starter button?

i had a dodge mini van back in the day that the fusible link had died and i had to bypass the whole ignition then used an old time starter push button like the had on the old tractors. i know that is the easiest because when the command start was unplugged all the wires are right there and would just need to put a couple wires with a spade crimp end on them and plug them in to that old wiring harness...

Re: My 1990 Ford E-350 Goshen Bus

I found this tidbit of information in the Sask laws today

“motor home” means a motor vehicle that is registered with the
administrator as a private passenger vehicle, an integral section of which is
designed for personal habitation, and is equipped with one or more permanently
attached beds together with one or more of:
(i) a permanently attached refrigerator;
(ii) a permanently attached stove; or
(iii) permanently attached washing and toilet facilities;
and includes a bus or a truck that has been so converted and is so registered

Re: My 1990 Ford E-350 Goshen Bus

Heh so heres your thread on the old bus eh Dean? Figured i would finally sign up since i am giving more and more thought towards the idea of getting a bus for summer use. More then likely will go with something like yours or an actual short van based bus that i could drive daily if i so chose lol.

Re: My 1990 Ford E-350 Goshen Bus

Just put in an order at http://www.autoamenity.com for a new set of simulators and valve stem extensions. not quite the ones i wanted but will do.

went with P-AP3 Kit for outside duals

went with P-AP4-6 for inside duals

for simulators i went with P-SLU168. should look like this

for a grand total of $209.40 shipped... honestly bout what i wanted to spend but $200 less then what the locals wanted to 'special order' the parts in...

Well i braved the dirt roads and got her to work today!!

whole purpose was to weigh it for SGI as its licensed with a GWVR of 7500 i believe trying to play it smart. I have to see what the limit is for a normal drivers license.

(10 042.056 pounds for our friends in the south :P )

Well crappy tire screwed up again... put in flexible rubber stubby valve stems instead of the metal ones... time to make some phone calls..

phone calls made.. tried claiming its a high pressure full metal valve stem.. umm no they are normal and highly flexible.. then tries to say they will have order the kind i want in... Hmmm NO I want my original stems that were special ordered and put on put BACK on!

Ain't it great to get the bus on the road?! Sorry to hear about the tire issues, though. Hope it's fixed soon without too much drama from the vendor.
