Possible first conversion?
I'm looking for a shortie for a hunting/camping road trip adventure-mobile. Would this be a good candidate to start with? It really doesn't have to be fancy, just something to drive to the hunting lease and put a couple of bunks in.
Thanks!

If it's what you feel comfortable with then go for it......

I hate V8 diesels, but that is just us people that like real inline 6 diesels.
IMO small one ton buses are all around junk.
I would go for a short, full size chassis bus.

I'm on board with Nat. You get SO much more for your money with a short bus over a chopped up van. They are notoriously difficult to work on due to the fact they are bulit-ons rather than built-ups.
That said, there are plenty of folks who like them for occasional use, but personally, I'd put that money on something sturdier and with a more commercial grade engine/trans. With a little searching, you can buy a really nice bus for that amount. My last Blue Bird was 40 foot, in outstanding condition and barely three grand.

That's also alot of money for a small van bus. About twice what is should be priced at.

That is up there price-wise. But for your occasional use-couple thousand mile a year mobile cabin-it would be perfect for you.
Sometimes the best bus is the one you find-somewhere in range you can get it-and you can afford.
