Removing Spring Leafs
I just had my bus weighed at a CAT scale, because I wanted to know where I was starting completely stripped out with a full tank of fuel. My weights came in at 5500 on the front axle(including my 200) and 6200 on the rear. My bus is rated and sprung for a GVWR of 25,500lbs. The front is probably ok with a rating of 8000 and probably not able to be changed short of putting a completely new springs in since it only has two leaves, but the rear is rated for 17,500 and has 13 leaves in two packs on each side. My question is has anyone removed springs to adjust for the actual weight of their bus? I don't anticipate adding 11,000 during my build, but will not be making changes until afterwards anyway. It bucks going over bumps with a 152" wheelbase.
