Replacing Captains/Drivers Char

I am looking to find out if anyone has been able to replace the drivers seat with a 180 swivel captains chair, so that that it is usable as living space when not on the road. I would like to build a small desk in behind it so it will turn around facing the desk where I would be able to "work" and then i dont have to figure out a desk chair either.

Anything is possible with deep pockets and grinder and welder. Just look at the mounting method of the swivel seat and how the seat is attached to the bus mount.

trucker's seats

Swivel bases for heavy trucks (lorries) are available.. usual cost new about $200 to $250, air ride seats at the low end for me $400 to $1800 high end.
If you want built in three point belts look at dealerships in new trucks and go from there......I bet you can find them salvage...

We replaced the driver's and added a passenger/copilot chair in our 2000 bluebird 4-window shorty with captains chairs from a 1980's Ford Conversion Van.

YouTube Video of Install

Both were simple installs. Find where you want the seats to sit, ensure they are flush with the dash and cab in general, then drill holes and use grade-8 hardware to secure the seats. My seats are more securely fastened now than they were with the stock install.

Keep in mind where the seat will be when adjusted either front and back or swiveled. Also, consider how far back you will need the seats to slide to access your doghouse/engine from inside.
