Thanks.
Mine is a shorty wheelchair bus and has 6 seats from the factory (and 2 wheelchair positions). Let's not forget the chair lift. Lest anyone think the ride is rough, it has an air ride rear axle.

As long as you have a similar axle, the "chunk" will swap perfectly. I'm already resigned to spending a fair bit of money swapping mine, so I'd like to recoup some of the cost if someone can use the one I have.

Remember that "rated capacity" only applies to how many seats, or wheelchair stations were fitted.

I have a 40 pusher, but its rated capacity was 46 because it had coach seating rather than bus seats.

it doesnt have to go up that high.. the bonnet comes off with 2 large pins and the 4 spring cable pins and unplug the wire harnesses.. 2 people can lift that bonnet easily and set it down.. now you just have to clear the bumper..

you can unbolt the fan shroud from the system or leave it on but it gets a bit tricky with the fan in there still doable though.. radiator hoses come off easy.. turbo pipes on mine ccame apart easy.

since you dont have the split radiator you may be able to disassemble each component... that weas the mistake i made wit hthe split radiator which made getting it back together real tough.. getting to the bolts was tough as it was obviously dropped in as a unit when my bus was built.. ive seen some vids of people doing front engione work and they pull the system out as a unit with a regular engine hoist or a bobcat.

I thought 1200 lbs sounded a bit silly.

Anyone with an allison 2000 would do well with that rear axle ratio. What I've got in the shorty.

You can find brand new cars that just came off the carrier from Detroit that have rust popping through. I wouldn't even put it on fiberglass since it can't be sanded.

Someone applied water based latex to some parts of my '46 Chevy. They apparently sanded it down to bare metal to put it on and there is a layer of rust under it everywhere there was latex. Sand through the original, 72 year old, oil based Chevy paint and the metal is bright and clean underneath.
Was out at Sandi's bus this morning and I remembered you saying this. Sure enough there were little pockets of condensation trapped behind the latex.
The rustoleum I put on in the dark and with 80% humidity did fine.

Ouch...sorry to hear that guys. And the stuff is a monster to try and sand. Best thing I have found for removing it is a "Striping disk". It will cut through it where sandpaper just clogs up.

That's why I'm offering it. I'm thinking I'll need about a 4.11 gear set to give a top end around 70.

Right now I get 55 with the engine at ~2500

That ratio would be perfect for Sandi's bus.

Any interest in it? I believe Sandi is in Florida? What rear axle does it have? Mine's an N175 I think (and it is my understanding the N190 will interchange).

You'd have to ask Sandi.

On the engine hoist, call around and ask for a BlueBird hoist. They trailer behind your car and go 10' high. They run a few grand, so rent it for $50

You want the Tip Tow 10

Cool. That looks like it could be very useful, if not a bit overkill.
I've got a buddy who has 2 of the harbor freight engine lifts. I'm thinking i could ratchet strap one to a trailer for more height. A redneck solution, but would cost me nothing. Can't weight more than my mower!

fixed! sorry about that i was on an install in nashville the last 10 days. and it was a big one!!

im thinking a 3.90 or 3.73 would be perfect in mine.. id like to go up to a 245/70 tire just for a little better ride ayt some point so may be a 3.90 or 4.11..

I have a 3.54 now.. cant think of anyone who would want to go that low.. how do I figure out the exacty axle I have? try and read its tag?

yeah, check for the axle tag.
How much would a hub/wheel swap cost? That thing would be pretty amazing with some 10R's or some 295/75's.

alot of changes to swap hubs.. going much bigger wheels is going to affect the brakes too, possibly even the spindles.. if I keep the small rotors and go to much larger diameter wheel / tire I run the risk of being brake deficient.

I could end up into wheels / hubs / spindles / rotors / calipers / tires.

looking at measurements i might be able to get a 265/70 on my current rims, ill talk to a tire guy again about it.. I dont know what the ramifications of a wide footprint are just to gain height.. will a wider footprint cause me wandering issues on the highway or does it increase ride quality in general?

id want to gear up to at least 4.11 if I want with a 265 tire

even with a 4.78 rear and a 34" (the 265)tire the RPM calc says id be at 1875 RPM in 6th gear at 65 MPH...
