So apparently the wipers are the only thing that doesn't work.
What the hell, man?!

And Shaun likes everyone, right? Well he says the school were complete jerks to him and that they tried to not let him leave with the bus. They wanted to see his CDL?! LOL

Shaun's truckin right on nicely! More than halfway through Louisiana!

He says other than no wipers and tape all over the gauge panel, its good to go. Just needs a MAJOR cleaning inside it, they're saying.

Has Shaun checked the wiper fuse? I know a guy pretty good at wiper fixinn!
He doesn't work for nothinn tho, lol
Hope he checks that out before dark.

I'm sure I'll get this fixed quicker than last time. A quick google search showed me that school buses made after the dawn of electronics in buses have lots of problems with wipers. The School Bus Fleet forum is full of threads about em!
I'll have him check the fuse next time they're stopped. He's not the best at figuring that kind of stuff out, but I'll see what we can do.
If they can beat the weather they may be ok. The rain is supposed to start tomorrow in that area around 11am or so. If they make it to AL today they should be fine. If not, I may haul arse up to north FL and rendezvous with them and see what can be done.

That tape job looks bothersome to me. Wonder what happened there they needed to take that apart for at some point?

IDK, its not quite AC season anymore for most of us! But we'll soon find out.
I hope so, but at least summer is months away so I could maybe have the time to get it working if it doesn't.

IDk, crappy gauges are pretty common on IC's but I'll find out.
If necessary I'll replace the whole panel. They're on Ebay. The three buses I had prior had gauges that were wonky. That 98's gauges were just sorta sitting in the dash with no screws when I got it.

I bought this for the engine/tranny combo and AC system.
The rest of it I'll gladly sort out to have the bus I really want!

true. . its surely not A/C season here.. though its been unusually sunny for ohio so the S.A.D.D. hasnt kicked in hard yet.. I really need to find a seasonal place in orlando or area where i can crash-pad from jan till april.. I been so busy workin that its probably a good thing I ditched that expensive st pete apartment. but I have a lot of stuff going on in FL in the next few months.

I have the new wiper motor, and I'm pretty sure it is the same as this bus would have. I'll have to find out. The switch won't be of any use as its the one with the diode for running dual switches. This one has the switch you put in my 98 where it controls both motors.
We've got a spare bedroom you could use on occasion if you'd like. Although you may not like our cooking much!

You are certainly building the experience with wiper issues.

If it's going to rain they could stop and get a bottle of that glass treatment that makes the water run off the windows faster. You hardly need wipers at all with that stuff on the glass.

CB, we seem to have been paralleling this cold/flue all this time since turkey day. Your descriptions are exactly what I've been having too. I think that was a little to strong to be just a cold. Better to happen now than the holidays.

Latest word is that the clearance marker lamps don't work.
I'm thinking its gotta be fuses or those breakers. Maybe one or more aren't working or mia.
I can't be upset. My last electro-bus had this kind of crap to overcome. I'll learn as I go, and hope that Chris does end up down in FL a lot this winter!!

On a positive note- the bus has probably had a pretty gentle life if its got that drivetrain and governed to 55.

The clearance lights sound like mine. I can hear my breaker flipping back and forth when I turn them on. I'm hoping it's just a bad light causing the problem.

Yeah, buying buses is a lot like buying used cars. You don't know exactly what you've got until you take it out and run it up through a mountain pass. Yours will be fairly well tested by time you receive it.

I bought this one sight unseen, other than photos. The auction was closing within a couple hours and there wasn't time to go look at it. You pays your money and takes your chances.

I can deal with clearance lights and wipers. Easier to fix those than to swap a 466 and 2000 into my old bus!

I need to get down there so we can have some fun with your new bus!.. my guess is things got knocked loose when the schools pulled their stuff out..

and yeah that DT466 and AD2000 probably had a nice easy life.. but in texas its warm enough it most certainly got well warmed up on its routes! seems like a near perfect combo to me.. some busses have a separate dash switch for the clearance lights.. my bluebird does..

Shaun said with the pedal to the metal it never moves from 50 going uphill or down and the temp never moves from where it stays once its warmed up. Around 170-180.

Shaun's literally getting a trophy for this. He's a trooper!
He's having fun, so that's good. Apparently its used VERY little fuel on this trip so far, too!

They're staying near Baton Rouge. Not bad for only 5o mph and getting delayed by the jerks at the school.
I can't wait to get a computer hooked up to it to find out if the mileage is correct. The odometer shows 77k and 3300 hours.
He said the one who gave him the hardest time was the mechanic. Guy tried to tell shaun he couldn't take the bus without a cdl! I've never heard of that. Shaun said that guy was awful butt hurt about something.
