Unless your water pump, thermostat housing and timing chain are cast as one piece which might have been an idea but never should have been produced?(my opinion)
Not suggesting it but I have seen mechanics back the bolts out enough to seperate the flanges off of whatever without removing anything. Then they would cut/slot the bolt holes to the inside and snip the bottom(cause that's where the leak will show) clean the fragments off and slip the new gaskets in with a lot of high temp silicone/gasket maker?
I don't do that but I would start with the thermostat housing and thermostat and not the timing chain cover.
If your water pump is above/around/over the timing chain cover then I would look at the weep hole in the bottom of the water pump. If it is that then the radiator fan could be blowing the coolant back onto the top of the timing chain cover and running down?
Good luck

I put up a video to try and better show you where its leaking.
Can't see it in the video, but I can actually see the spot where the water is leaking out. Its right where the front cover meets the water inlet and outlet to the block. On these engines, the front cover has the water pump mounted low and to the left. The water is pumped upwards through a channel in the front engine cover and into the top of the block. The water returns in a channel right next to it.

To reduce it to one word,: no. The AC doesn't work. It may be within my knowledge to fix it... Except one of my couplers is hooked up to prevent a leaky fitting from leaking!
One of CB's compressors was kicking on and off, along with the condenser fan matching it, so I believe it's hitting a breaker cutoff or triggering a pressure sensor.
The other one wasn't kicking on at all.

The dash air, that's the one that wasn't doing anything.

That shortie needs wheelie bars and a parachute more than it needs working AC.

Actually, the down blast type spoilers work great on buses. Helps keep the rear end cleaner. You see them on some of the hi-dollar rigs.

Is it the head gasket? Looked like it. It also looks like it has been leaking for a long time if the rust stains on the block are anything to go by.
If you can, do a compression test and a cooling system pressure test.
Compression test will tell you if it's just the coolant part that is leaking. Coolant pressure test will tell you if the cooling system is being pressurized by the engine when it runs.
Either way, yeah, a new head gasket is in your future. When the head is off, have it checked for flatness or you could be doing it again fairly soon.
Good luck. It's hours of work but at least you have access.
An oil sample to Blackstone Labs is a good idea too. They will tell you how much coolant is in the oil, if any.

yeah usually short cycling compressors are low freon, on mine the compressors and condensor fans follow each other even in normal operation.
who made those units? are they any of the major brands (carrier, red dot, trans/air, TK)?
where is the video, i was looking for a link to it? for the water leak?

That's an unheard of setup in a bus. It's a unicorn, even if someone had to make it happen by swapping in the 8.3.
That's a lot like CB finding a shorty with the 466. It's worth fixing up if it needs it. I've got to be curious about how much it would take to buy that shorty.

Robin, you said that I believed in unicorns! I'm so excited that I made a good choice. $4,600, no auction. No rust, diesel, great shape. I'm in love with it!

Lurkers are digging for the info as we speak, I can almost assure you.
Even if its a 5.9, with the right transmission that would still be a killer setup for a short bus.

Congrats ! I still have 2 trucks left with ISC's- they are great. hit me up w/ ?'s.
ECCB- Read those DT466 motors have an issue with leak in front cover-- gets eaten. Check for that.
front cover. The coolant had eaten away at the aluminum and caused a leak. International has an updated cover for it, which unfortunately requires you to also replace the inner portion of the front cover with the revised outer.
I was told that the red antifreeze will cause those problems. If they still have the truck, and that's what was in it, ask them about that new Shell ELC coolant, it's yellow. That's suppose to eliminate that problem so you won't have it in the future. Have them refill it with that.

NO definitely NOT the head gasket.
as stated- zero signs of any contamination in the oil or coolant. NO smoke, runs like a beast.
Its trickling right where the inlet and outlet for water are at the block/front cover junction.
Why is a new head gasket in my future???
That rusty spot looks like its been there for many years. I spent HOURS staring at every part of this bus, especially the engine. There was NEVER any sign of coolant on any part of the engine till this leak started pissing out right when I was looking at it the other day. When I got the bus it had just done 20 hours on the interstate and the entire engine was dry, no coolant and only MINOR oil here and there that would be expected.
Coolant pressure and compression are definitely on the "to-test" list. But I don't have the stuff to do either.

That was the first thing I found on google, too.
Hopefully that inner/outer replacement scenario isn't as bad on mine, as that one is an 05 with egr.
I can likely to the outer front cover, but the inner scares me a bit. Only way to see is to tear into it.
If the inner and outer really are eaten away and its not just a failed gasket I'll likely just get used stuff, as I definitely don't want to pay over two grand just for the parts from IC.
