I guess I'm glad I have three new batteries, but if I'd known two would be fine I think I would have done that when the original batteries died on me. I only got three because that's how many there were originally.

I need to rig up a quick disconnect, too. I bought one for the negative terminals, but on my setup the negatives are in the back and there's not enough height for the disconnect. I'd have to reroute all the wires in the box and they barely all fit as it is.

I've even ran one battery before.
I need a disconnect, too. Although I do drive it enough now that I could probably get by without one.

Took me literally a half hour to get the 100A fuse for the WC lift off the tray. It was only held on by four little sheet metal screws but it wasn't budging without a lot of fuss. Now I have a nice waterproof 100A fuse and several feet of power cable.

Yeah it feels good to breathe without the anxiety. I'm still feeling it but its a lot more manageable now.
I got up on the roof and did a couple hard core washings too. Roof washing is a very underappreciated bit of skoolie maintenance.

So that's what my battery box should look like!

Nice! I can't clean & paint mine yet -- it would only feed the rust...

wire brushed the few rusty spots and treated them with rust reformer. Will sand and paint em tomorrow.
The j hooks and clamp bar look new again after some brushing and paint.

Washed the front cowl area of the bus again.
Now that I keep it at home its more or less a daily driver type setup. I love this. I can go mess with my bus any time I want.
Materials and supplies are the limiting factor for a while.

Only two batteries in that compartment? I'll have to show you mine next time I am there (like after the pandemic is over). I have 4 batteries crammed in there with dual 2/0 wires.

In the meantime, here is a shot of the battery tray all decked out for service:

Are those house and starting batteries?
Two is more than enough to start any bus I've had.

I’m happy to hold the ladder if you want to come show me how that roof washing thing goes!

As much as I hate being on ladders, on roofs, or actually just doing work sometimes that still might be a good deal for me. Haha

Yeah, two house and two chassis. It is a temporary thing.

NO progress today. It more or less rained or drizzled all day. Should be clear tomorrow I think.

Got the tray and parts painted. Debating if I wana paint the compartment itself. Its not rusty. The tray only had a bit itself.
I may let the parts dry for a day or two and put it all back together as is.
When I go to paint the body I'll be using better than rustoleum so I'll probably just do it in body color at that time.

Now that sounds like a good plan.
