Been getting a lot done the last couple months.
Not on the shorty. I've been working on LOTS of stuff around the house.
We're getting ready to list it for sale and I'm finishing up painting it. Its been a big job, but glad I did it. Our area is BOOMING and this house is worth more to the market than it is to us.
We're going to park the bus out where we've always parked buses previously- a cousin's property out in Apopka. Planning on living in a teardrop and working on the bus full time.
And we have something else in the works. If it all goes to plan we've got something BIG coming soon. Stay tuned!!!

Hey dude.
Good move on selling the house.
I've thought about doing the same. Prices are crazy here in Florida.
Congrats on the score on that bus.
I just tried to get a shorty yesterday went up as high as 15k and lost
I guess the little buses are as hot as the houses!

I almost sold this shorty last year... was even offered 12k. But they're so damned hard to find... and to find one like I've got is basically impossible without lots of money and luck now.

You're selling the house to finance the acquisition and restoration of Big Red?

As most of you know I've been looking for a good deal on a rusty but mechanically sound donor bus to replace a bunch of mechanical stuff on my 04 IC shorty. Well even rust buckets are going for a lot it seems. In my search and continual bidding on donor buses I came across some decent looking shorties in GA.

I was happy no one posted links to this in the buses for sale thread. Scored a 1999 Thomas shorty. Maybe a high headroom model. I think its a 6 window. Maybe 5. Hard to tell from the pics. THe prices stayed low due to the lack of pics and info but a vin decoder figured out most of what I needed to know.

Low miles and hours on a handi bus. I think I got a good deal. Will be my first Cat 3126. They had four, two of which had Cats and the other two were later model Mercedes. I've been wanting to try a Cat for a while now so I figured this was cheap and close enough to go for it.
If I don't like it I'll paint it and flip it on CL.

I'm a sucker for a clean, straight handi bus.

Atlanta isn't too far, so getting it here won't be too bad hopefully.
Wish me luck- The adventure continues!

Nice pickup. Which Vin decoder did you use?

Looks good! Great that it made that trip after sitting 5? years.
What did you pay for it, (ballpark figure ok)?

Post up an inside walk through if you can?

Assuming you're selling the unicorn bus now that you have this new one?

Yeah he checked all the fluids, topped everything off, used anti-gel etc... but I plan to do all the fluids and filters asap.
I'll post a walk through soon. I ran out of time and camera memory right when the vid ends. I had to rush back home and haul stuff to storage. We've got our house listed and been working round the clock on getting it all ready for sale.
Paid less than 10k. But it is going to need TLC... and then some. I think we may have one of the more neglected Wanderlodges in existence. But its all there! Even the clock and the "blue box".

This is going to be a lot of work, but its going to teach me all kinds of new stuff and this has been my dream for so long... Just feels so good after a very rotten 2020!

Probably going to keep the Unicorn. I love it too much to part with it. We're thinking we want to be a 2 bus "household". But who knows. Maybe I'll end up NEEDING the $$ from it someday.

Aye, thanks Jack! I think she's a real peach ;)

The bus is gonna clean up pretty nice. Got some nice patina goin on. Only a couple minor spots of any rust I've seen so far.
These old Birds are really special!

Congrats on the Wanderlodge man, color me jealous. I hadn't seen you post much lately so I figured you had something cooking.

Good luck on the home sale too, it's a maddening process but it'll be worth the work. As recent homebuyers I can confirm that this is a great time to be a homeseller...the market is crazy no matter which part of the country you're in.
