Shuttle Bus Seat Removal
I posted about a year and a half ago after purchasing a shuttle bus that was a city transport vehicle for wheelchair users to convert into a comfortable vehicle for my husband and I to travel in. He didn’t make it and the project stalled for a year and a half while I sorted out several things. I am actively converting the bus now and have hit a wall in the form of seats that fold up against the wall. Each seat is held down by 4 nuts that spin freely and a 3-4” round center pole. After cutting the bolts, we found the seats remained firmly in place because of a pole or post. Have any of you encountered this? I heard a rumor that this is a DOT safety requirement and there is a switch that will lock those posts down. It was suggested that I take the bus to DOT and discover where this switch is. Sounds outlandish and makes me think there is a large false floor filled with large electromagnets and I can release them by knowing the location of the magic button. Do any of you have experience with this type of seat and do you have any suggestions for the easiest and most practical removal method? I am stuck! You guys have been awesome and I appreciate any help you can offer. Thank you. Rebecca.
