Some busses in TX

There are 4 of these busses in Austin and they look ok except they all have old tires. All are 444 engine and Alison 2000 transmissions.

I’m looking for a bus that is 25’ or so and can go over mountains as well as down rutted dirt roads. Anyone have any opinions about them pro or con?

...I added the rest of the listings below... there are actually 5.

The link only showed one, and the lack of forthrightness in the write up rouses my suspicions.
Sitting, presumably not started, for 10 months.
No guaranty it will start, or even has batteries.
Tires unk, may need new.
115K cumulative miles- replacement instrument cluster.
A/C unk. TX bus, so prolly has, but working..?
Interior: mold/dirty (ergo leaky)
Most telling; maintenance records will not be provided. WTF, the school district is making a scrap book?!
At least it's an 03, so prolly pre-PITA emissions additions.
I'm 3 hours from Austin, else I'd offer to eyeball it for ya.

I added the rest of the listings to my original post. There are pics of the tires and they obviously need to be replaced on all.

Look to be fairly clean rust free busses. Best way to get answers is to ask questions from them directly. Not all districts will provide service records, mine would not.

Schools are not bus sales companies. It's not unusual at all for them to list them all as Unknown. Doesn't mean anything other than they were too lazy to present a proper sales ad. Those all look like great buses. They were just taken out of service and were running then. I would call the place and ask whatever questions you might be concerned about. International bus from Texas from 03, the last good year before EPA stuck their nose in. You have a good chance to get a deal because many, like Matt, will turn their nose up and walk away from a great deal.

I actually went for one of these.
I stopped bidding at 8,400.
The one that outbid me won 4 of these.

At least I tried [emoji16]

Public Information Act - request the maintenance records

OK - did I do that when I bought my Texas bus? No. I work in records mgt and I can tell you that all Texas schools must keep maintenance records for the life of the asset. Presumably you could request the maintenance records on a bus of interest, pre-auction. Then follow through with the request, in earnest, if you won the bus.

Drop down to page 31 or Chapter 13. See record ID# 3500-07a

Cheers Mike

No argument, here!
But: activity bus with insanely low mileage.
Too bad I'm allergic to Fords...

They overpaid by a lot I think. Low miles, but that’s a lot for a bus of unknown overall condition.

I’d say you luckily lost.

Nah.
I actually flew there. I did my homework.
I saw the bus, talked to the mechanic that worked on it, checked all fluids, etc.
