I've been lurking around for a few months, but it's time to make things official. I bought my bus from PublicSurplus.com back in April for $3,000 and have been working on the conversion over the past 2 months. It's "just a camper" so I'm not going to install water tanks or any kind of toilet for now. The maiden voyage will be to the Great Smoky Mountains in TN to see the solar eclipse in August.

Completed:

• Seats removed
• Rubber floor removed
• Stop sign & bus insignia removed
• Subfloor prepped
• Heater removed
• Painted inside & out
• Vinyl floor installed
• Battery replaced
• Seats reinstalled
• Speakers installed
• Stereo replaced

Still left to do:

• Take the old seats to the dump
• Install interior battery bank & converter
• Build slide out futon
• Build kitchen counter w/sink

I wouldn't have been able to come as far as I have if it weren't for the resources & advice I found here, so thanks for everything!

awesome build coming together!!! for a michigan bus the floors looked really good!..

The subfloor looked pretty good, but I didn't look under it to check the metal. Figured I know there's going to be rust and I don't know how to weld, so might as well just enjoy whatever years I can get out of her!

I did that wity myt carpenter.. its an Ohio bus... i know there will be rust.. but I havent found any place that the floors are rusted through... plus now i keep it stored under roof .. though I do drive it whenever I want so that means it is out in the rain or salt at times.. but im just running it and enjoying it..
