Re: The Dirtybus...
Maybe it is in the post somewhere but I don't remember. What is the length from behind driver seat to the back door?

Re: The Dirtybus...
20'...
Haven't touched it in a while...
We finally got some summer weather up here and been cramming as much fun into whatever time we have...
I did get some materials donated from some buddies... A bunch of sch 40 to frame out the bunks, a good bit of 1" angle iron and 1" square tube for framing the galley and a few used aluminum diamond plate truck boxes that will get cut up for cabinet doors...
I need to get back on this thing and get some real progress done... We've been camping a lot and I'd love to have the bus further along, but when the weather is so nice it's hard to not have fun...

Re: The Dirtybus...
We took it to a friends house this last weekend to welcome a family friend back from Iraq... Had a great time and stayed the night in the bus... I had it up to 68 mph on flat ground... Also took it to the store to get groceries... It gets more rubber necking than anything I've ever driven...
On Monday I was taking it down to run it through emissions and it went to **** right in front of the bay as I was pulling in... Leadfoot067 came to save my ass and pull it out of the emissions lot... Ended up draining the tank and fuel filter... The fuel looked a bit funky and didn't smell right... Put some fresh stuff in and primed the fuel system and it runs great...
Did find out on Mountain HWY that it runs out of diesel at 1/4 tank on the gauge... Better to find that out close to home than 100 miles away... It needs about 8 gallons in the tank to get the pick-up wet...

Re: The Dirtybus...
Just wanted to say I'm absolutely in love with your model of bus. There's one around here used by the school system that I'm eagerly waiting to go out of service.
Do you happen to know your MPG? Just curious if it's any better or worse than a full sized bus.

Yeah, I'm also a big fan of that style bus. Very good use of space and I'm guessing great maneuverability. How does it ride?

Yeah, I've played with the chains a little bit already... Onstar charges $2200 for them...
I got part of the dinette and galley framed in today... Pics to come...

Re: The Dirtybus...
Got some work done on the dinette and galley today...
There will be a 1" thick piece of plywood on the bench and the rest will get treated with aluminum diamond plate...

Re: The Dirtybus...
Got the other seat for the dinette done... Need to do some grinding, weld some nuts on the inside of the square tube to fasten the diamond plate and paint...
Also got the toe kick installed on the galley and started cutting materials for the hearth under the wood stove, but ran out of welding gas...
Gonna start cutting and mocking up the bunk material...
The aluminum tool box is there for mock up of the fridge... It'll be cut up for use as cabinet doors...

Re: The Dirtybus...
Thanks for the comments guys...
Got the rough in done on the upper cabinets... There's another one above the large window on the passenger side as well...
Started the rough framing for the head... I'll try and get some better pics...
Still have a lot of framing to do, but the main structures are coming along nicely... Gonna be a lot of little things that don't show a whole lot of progress happening real soon...

Re: The Dirtybus...
I only have 20' of living space behind the driver seat... Spent way to much time drawing up floor plans to make everything work... I knew that the galley and the head had to go where they are based on black and grey tanks, the passenger side was already taken up by the fuel tank... As soon as I started building and setting things in place, it was easier to fit everything else...

Re: The Dirtybus...
That's twice the room I have...and the reason I'm adding on a "back porch" and roof rack. Gotta' be really frugal (and creative) with my space usage. But then there's a reason why they are called "Shorties", right.
