I think I may have a winner here:

1994 Genesis

DT466 HT Engine
4DRGSAAN8SA066927 is the VIN

"Allison Transmission" - how do I find out if 545 or better?

A DT466 HT is going to handle mountains well, right? Everything I'm reading sounds very dependable and good to work on. Maybe even future dreams of WVO could happen... I'm just concerned about the HT model still being easy to service and find parts for. What's the scoop?

How's this rust look? Apparently no external rust, but this internal stuff looks like it would need some work...

Anything about this model to keep an eye out for? This really seems like a sweet spot bus that would meet my current and future needs, and I'm really in need.

Anybody know a diesel mechanic that could check this out for me ?

The trans to find out look on the side of the transmission there is a tag on it telling what model it.

Floor rust a bit rough, but if the rest is not bad at least you can get to this rust.

What HP is the DT466 in this bus rated for?

@Ronnie - this has what you are looking for, but I'm not certain of the reading.

That shows what are the possibilities for your engine. 175hp is the one marked so that is the HP for this bus. Bit on the low side. Not sure what is required to bump it up on this engine. Know how on the Cummins 5.9 but not the DT466

Could be uprated from A175 to A190 (about 10%) but not to either of the HT spec because that engine is upgraded internally with different hard parts.

Is the HT engine going to be harder to source parts for?

Is 195 HP really going to keep me from heading west safely?

I"m so grateful for all the help and insight from everyone. Thank you

As far,as safely there is no problem. It really is just a matter of how fast you will go up grades. Get in the slow lane, with the trucks and be happy. Watch coolant , and transmission Temps and enjoy the ride.

There's not really anything in the floor pic that looks like you'd have to do anything other than treat the rust with ospho and paint it. But the worse spots are usually around the wheel wells and they're not shown very clearly in this pic. But even then it's pretty easy to patch as long as the damage isn't too severe. Also the base of the back wall will probably be bad, but the state of that is currently hidden by the back panel.

Any thoughts on this 2001 G30 with a 6.5 turbo? Is the VIN history concerning?
