Donating that wheelchair is very great. However, that was I think too. It is hard to sell that but I think you could sell that to the person who are working in the medical field like doctor who has a clinic. In that case, he/she would use for his/her patients.

Re: Wheelchair Lift

i have the same problem. i have the big braun millenium series. thought i could get millions out of it. i called the mobility people n was told its 6000$ new. could maybe get 3 for it used. the problem is, the companies that use them dont want used, and the people that use them want smaller ones that fit into a minivan. so what you got there is a 500 lb paperweight. im thinking about calling the va in spokane n seeing if they want it.

Re: Wheelchair Lift

I tried to sell my lift for $350, which I thought was very reasonable, and similar to other prices on ebay. I could not find a buyer, even at $200. Just a very limited market for those. I ended up selling it to the scrap yard for $23 . At least I pulled the hydraulic pump off it first, so maybe I'll find a use for that one day...

Re: Wheelchair Lift

Put mine up on craiglist for free, they remove it and had dozen people in seconds say they wanted it and I live in a small city.

Re: Wheelchair Lift

I know this is a old topic, but this is some useful information that I think will help more than one person.

The first time I read a thread that someone was tearing out a wheelchair lift, I didn't give it much thought.

Then I hauled scrap, and did Property Reclamation for a few years.
http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/canada/9 ... apers.html

What that taught me was everything is a commodity. Some things need to be disassembled to smaller, less specific, more valuable, useful parts.

The wheelchair lifts are the same. From what I see in the pics of them, the consist of the following parts.

A 12 volt hydraulic pump.
2 or more long stroke, small diameter hydraulic rams.
a control of some sort. Valves
And some scrap metal

If I had one, I would keep it. A lift at the back of the bus for my 50cc scooter, pails and 45 gallon barrels of supply's would be great.
However if you don't want one, here are some other ideas.

The hydraulic system could be used to build a leveling system for your bus.

A log splitter

Run any Porta Power Accessory

Lift or lower any blade on any motor vehicle with 12 volt supply

Build a powered, full size rear tail gate big enough to drive a car up into your bus.

And the list go's on.

Hope this helps.

Nat
