Re: 180 dgree diesel

diesel fuel is much more unsafe above 120 degrees than it is when it's below 100.

if you spill diesel fuel on the ground this time of year, it's difficult or even impossible to ignite with a match. diesel fuel needs to be above 100 or 120 depending on which source you read before it gives off enough vapor to ignite. liquid's don't burn. all burnable liquids give off a vapor, and the vapor is what actually burns. gasoline gives off enough vapor to ignite around negative 30 F. All of those numbers change when you add compression..........

other than the fact that your diesel fuel will be warm and slightly less stable, i don't think there is anythign wrong with having your fuel filter near the engine. I assume it's not near enough to the exhaust to discolor the filter or anything.

trucks that are set up for cold weather sometimes have fuel tanks heated with engine coolant.

and on a 110 degree day when you're driving your bus on blacktop pulling a steep grade your fuel in the tank is prob hot enough you cant touch it.

Re: 180 dgree diesel

At the suggestion of a diesel tech that has lots of years in I mix in some decent 2 cycle oil with my diesel at every filling. I mix it at about a 250:1 ratio. That's just over 30 gallons to 1 pt of oil.
