Petroleum based diesel and biodiesel are not identical, but they are interchangeable. The biggest concern is biodiesels tendency to thicken if stored too long, or at low temperatures. If you store your bus for months on end, you might want to run out the bio and fill the tank with regular first.
The other differences are: biodiesel is more viscous. That's a good thing. It has less sulfur and more oxygen, so it burns cleaner. That's a good thing.
But it's less dense, so it produces 4-5% less energy than petro, hence a slight horsepower drop. Not awful, but possibly noticeable pulling hills. Or if you are paying REALLY close attention to your MPG.
