Helper/Priming pump question ...

For those of you who have additional pumps in your fuel lines, WVO or diesel, what sort of flow rate do you go for so that you don't overwhelm the IP? Are there 'adjustable' electonic pumps out there that I'm just missing?

Also, any suggestions as to makes/models/types of pumps for this would be great!
