non Onan generators in the bus

Hi,

Can you tell me if anyone is using generators that are not made specifically for RV's in their buses, what I mean is installed in a compartment?

Thank you,
Tom

Re: non Onan generators in the bus

I PLAN to, I have seen many others here and elsewhere. I have a Honda already, might as well use it. 2000 watt, whisper quiet, and needs to change oil before it goes through a 5 gallon can of gas.

Honda/Yamaha inverters if you want QUIET like an RV genny. Standard "contractor" style if on a budget. Some are mounted on rear rack, some are in a belly storage box.

This with this tri fuel conversion kit added to it is what we will be running. I have the soundbox/permanent over-the-roof exhaust design laid on out paper and have sourced the materials. I recently bought a $30 5 gallon bucket of Deckover "OOPS" paint to use on the exterior of the box to water proof it (and other boxes). We won't be using this genny in a campground (unless the power goes out). We do not normally boondock but we do park in parking lots. With a good sized deep cycle marine battery bank (golf carts won't fit) and the 5 or 6 20# LP tanks we will tie together, we should do okay. After much research, this is the solution we came up with to suit our needs.
