I would **really** like to find a dirt cheap low miles propane bus, so long as the powerplant is the Chevy / GMC 8.1L

Prefer petrol conversion, but OEM propane would be fine.

Shorter the better, and 4x4 would be **fantastic**, in fact would pay a finder's fee $200-500 for the one I buy, based on how great a value it is.

Propane engines generally last longer than a gasoline counterpart. Some reasons for this could be 1. Less power in propane therefore less strain on engine. And 2. Propane is cleaner burning therefore less contamination in engine and oil; though diesels last longer than gasoline and they burn dirty. Who knows. But propane running do last longer than gasoline.

This has been known since the 60's, up to 3 times longer, verified by large fleet owners running the same vehicles side by side.

DOE confirms, LPG does not wash down the cylinder walls, nor dilute the crankcase oil, and is super clean low carbon so little soot contamination.

Also fewer emissions controls needed of course, much greener fuel.

6 Cylinder dual carbs ,been going since 1970

I have had several vehicles powered by Propane
Here is a combination that had critics in 1970 when introduced
Still works and we like the idea it can sit even for a year and start right up and We do not worry about aged fuel.
Also it has a large propane generator that get used sparingly but also always works.
And The best part is we have never had to do a carb rebuild on either

I love the concept!

But scared that anywhere would be thousands of miles away from a mechanic that would touch the propane bits when it fails.

Those yellow ice cream trucks always tempted me, big ol' GMC like the forestry trucks

UPS/Canada

I was reading about CNG and came across the fact that UPS runs 850 propane trucks in Canada.
Was noticing the new ones that go by my place every morning at 10:a.m. are gas powered or propane or CNG as they are hitting 5000 rpm or better going 70 on a 4 % grade uphill.
When they come home later they idle down the hill.
I am going to ask my UPS driver next time they come by what fuel they are running.
