waste MOTOR oil as fuel??

Not sure where else to put this but i'm sure some of you must have seen some of the claims of people mixing used motor oil in with diesel (after filtering) and some people even using 50/50 blends and one guy claiming he ran it straight... does anyone know anything about this?

I would think it would be hard on injectors (with any kind of micro particles at all despite good filtration, i'm not sure what size particles would be considered harmful or how much filtering would be needed)

Re: waste MOTOR oil as fuel??

I know and have heard of a lot of people doing this. They say you can use up to a 50/50 mix. I would filter the oil well first before putting it in my tank. I was going to experiment around with this first with my tractor and then try it with my bus.

No I don't think that would work very well! My tractor and my new bus are both Diesel.

Re: waste MOTOR oil as fuel??

i read this post BEFORE i saw you had a new bus.

i think a centrifuge would be an awesome method for filtering used motor oil. Also, i bet that DD will burn just about anything you put in it....and it doesn't have a single injector pump, rather each injector is it's own pump which means that if things do go bad, you can at least still get home even if one or more cylinders stop producing power.

I hooked both the tubes up to a container (an old coolant jug) to collect it already. Although I have a vent hole on the jug it should keep clean enough to filter and burn.

I'm not planning on getting rid of the skoolie, I am working on both of them side-by-side right now.
