FINALLY FOUND MY BUS!!!!
After six months of searching, checking eBay every night, surfing the web, buying a bus in Pittsburgh, PA and having it sold out from underneath me by 422 Sales, - I FOUND MY BUS!
I am heading out Monday, November 23, 2009 to Mohawk, NY (from Dayton, Ohio) to bring it home! It's perfect...
I shall name her one week from returning home...
More pics and info to follow!

Re: FINALLY FOUND MY BUS!!!!
Ok - Sorry - been busy with the Thanksgiving Holiday -
Its a 91 Thomas Safe T Liner Transit. Set up for charter with lots of room for wheelchairs and all the equipment to secure them down. All of that is coming out. It is 40 feet long with a Cat 3116 driving her. Nothing has been done so far. The paint is original 1991 paint and this bus was kept garaged. The new paint will be cobalt-blue metallic on the main body below the windows - and Corvette white on the roof.
She drives like a dream. Has 112000 on her and was owned since new by the Masonic Home in Utica, NY. GENTLY used and the absolutely perfect for my project.
The are some rust spots and I have new panels for the front of the bus.
As soon as I figure out how to post pics I will share more pics.
I am truly blessed to start with this bus....
Gerry

Re: FINALLY FOUND MY BUS!!!!
3500 for a high-top RE Thomas with belly storage and a WC lift. not bad! Ive been eying for the same thing. how long is she? looks like a 40'. I'm trying to find one about 35' because where I plan to take mine is to nascar races and my site is approximately 19x40 I haven't seen the site yet to fully measure it (moving to a new site and MIS says they cant guarantee all sites are 40' long.) but I will know after June. also I want to use it for regular camping also. and at a rate my knees are degrading (doctor says I have no cartridge in my knees ) I'll probably be in a wheel chair in about 10 years if not sooner all thanks to the US Army. So I plan to find one with a WC lift and keep it installed.
good luck with converting her. and post lots of pics!!!

Re: FINALLY FOUND MY BUS!!!!
yeah and I'm only 30. I'm one of those people who sees stairs and lets out a big sigh, and while climbing them I mutter out a few cuss words. All this coming from a guy who wants to eventually get a 3 story house. I guess I will be getting an elevator put in
Sorry ggustin for tromping on your thread. But, I would like to know the length. kinda hard to tell from the photo and the fact that the windows are sliders and not typical school bus windows. I'm not sure how the quality of those windows are (never seen close ups of them before) but if you plan on skinning your bus you could keep a few of the sliders in as they have the RV look to them. it will save some money spent on windows.
