Cool Our Bird has landed! 1982 FC35SB Wanderlodge!

I've been working on getting this old Bird for a few years now. Glad to finally have "a bird in the hand" lol.
LOTs more pics and info to come. This is BIG! I've wanted a Wanderlodge since I was 16.
I knew if I kept up with this bus hobby eventually I'd get one I wouldn't actually have to convert.
Wish us luck! The excitement here is palpable.

Congratulations!!! I can hear how excited you are. I've heard of them, but never seen one. I'll have to research them.

The Wanderlodge are fantastic! Good for you. And...you probably know...to never call a Wanderlodge a conversion.

Congrats bud! Your excitement is warranted, I'm glad to see you finally got it bought!

Give us the details on it!

Did this come from kubla by chance?

Yeah... we'd been talking to him about buying this Bird for a long time.

Details are MANY! lol

3208 turbo. 643 trans. Funky throttle cable/linkage and the modulator for the 643 isn't working so it has to be manually shifted. Gotta get on that asap.
My mind is sort of blank this morning- I've been going HARD with getting the house and yard up to snuff and nice for the realtor's pics. Got that done yesterday and now I can relax a wee bit.

Everything seems to be there, with a few extra bits too.
Almost every aspect of the of Bird needs tlc/attention/repair. But its worth saving this old beauty.
Its got air ride all around. Good virgin steers (older but VERY good still) and new chinese tires on the rear. The kind with closed shoulders but some decent tread in the center. My favorite kind of drive tires.
Not any real bad rust on it aside from a couple of spots on the exterior.
250 +/- fuel tank so it can go ALL day without stopping.
There's a Kubota 4cyl diesel generator that *does* run but is going to need a bit of attention to get up to snuff. Once we get it sorted its going to be nice having 12.5kw of diesel genny power. With that big fuel tank we won't have to worry about constant fill ups. But boy oh boy- filling up a 200+ gallon tank is going to be $$!
The power steering lines are going to need to be replaced as well. One leaks but the power steering does work well enough to get Kubla from Cincinnati to central Florida, so that's good.
All in all its going to be a big, expensive job but this is the coach we've always wanted and once we get all the nastiness off it I think its going to be a good one.
IDk why but we're both elated that it still has the BB clock.

I suppose you're fully aware but just in case

https://www.wanderlodgeownersgroup.com/forums/index.php.

People there can tell you, in infinite detail, everything you ever wanted know about Wanderlodges.
There's probably one or two that know the history on your particular bus.
I looked at a few myself and they can be great if you're up for the challenge.
I hope you have a great time with it

Yeah, I'm on there. I just haven't had the time to actually post anything.
Today's the first day in a few weeks were I actually am just sitting around doing nothing relaxing.

The facebook WOG is pretty amazing, though!

Put some Terro poison right on a couple holes the ants are crawling through.
Then put a line or two of it in some strategic spots.

Going out today to clean up the excess ant poison and actually put some traps for them. Then I may let of a couple bug bombs in it and leave it closed up for a week.

The Lodge is going to be so happy that you're doing such an awesome job cleaning, disinfecting and debugging her.

When she's all spic n' span, maybe a bottle of Febreeze, let her sit overnight and then open her us and take her for a nice cruise to circulate all the air.

Love how you all are loving your coach.

Thanks!

Once we get the ants and bugs out we got a lot of stuff to sort out.

I've been working on our new digs while she does the coach cleaning. I've got about 10k lbs of scrap cleared out and mowed the property down real low to discourage pests. We have a carport near the Wanderlodge and I cleaned it all out. We're going to put a picnic table and a fridge under there for now.
