They told me “you need to get that permission from Allison we can’t do anything”. So until you shared PCMperformance with me, I thought I was F****d. With the governor removed bus can now go 65 but it’s at 2500 rpm and she gets hot after running it that hard for a while….so 6th gear will be a godsend!
Yikes, 2500 RPM at 65 MPH...my Cat C7 with an MD3060 does about 2100 RPM or so at 65 MPH, and that's the governor speed. RPMs are governed at 2400 RPMs.

the CAT has a bit lower governer than the 466E, the 466E is allowed 2600 loaded and 2700 unloaded.. 6th gear should drop him to about 2200-2300

5th gear is a 0.75 and 6th is a 0.65

Hey Cadillac I was thinking about getting the Orion reflash system after I get 6th unlocked, would it be worth it to bump the HP by 15? (For a total of 230) from my understanding 230 would be the safe max for the standard torque version of the DT466e (even though international told me the other day it is the high torque model and is governed at 2400 rpm although it is clearly spinning at 2600 max).

So I guess the question is if 215hp is enough for the 30 foot bus or if upgrading and bumping it to the next level would be worth it

You can go above 230 even on the standard torque with the Orion, you just can’t do it with the Navistar software, bill makes tunes designed for the hardware in your engine. The non HT isn’t weak it’s just not as stout for heavy fueling at low RPM.

If you have the HT version, the pistons and turbo are designed to provide more power at lower RPM, I’ve seen the 530 governed at 2400 but the 466s always seem to go 2500-2600 even the HT. That or the crappy Navistar tach is wrong.

I highly recommend the Orion. Bill can set you up with tunes that fit your engine. The engine part number on the valve cover will tell you if it’s standard or HT.

Like I tell everyone who is going to jump into the realm of tuning install an EGT gauge and a digital dash of some sort like bluefire is a huge help as well where you can watch boost, engine load factor etc.

Hey my bus finally made it home from Virginia and I finally got to unbolt the doghouse to see the engine tag. I can’t find anywhere where HT is labeled so I assume it’s standard torque. And even though my bus is 2004 the engine tag says 2003 so I’m thinking it has no EGR system? Any insight into my ideas or thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated

(I looked for an EGR and didn’t see one but I am unfamiliar with this engine and where it’s located or where to look. My only experience with an EGR system was deleting one on a 6.0 powerstroke)

thats the standard torque unit.. the torque on the HT would be north of 600 ft lbs/.. 620 i think on the 215 HT
