“04 Thomas Saf-t-liner HDX EGR issues

I have a 2004 37’ Thomas Saf-t-liner hdx, Mercedes 2003 OM906LA engine and I believe an Allison 2000 I’ll need to go back and check. Been reading up on it and I’ve seen around this era buses with EGR issues being a big drawback and I’m trying to figure out if I’ve escaped that with the engine being an “03, as I’ve heard “04 buses and after is a no go. I’ve seen people mention disconnecting the EGR as well. How difficult is that process, and how does that work?
Also have been trying to figure out if I’ve also managed to escape the computer controlled systems, if it is an Allison 2000 I think that is computer related, but there was a short time period where engines could be mechanical simultaneously?
Ultimately trying to figure out if I’ve made a mistake with this purchase, does anybody have any knowledge about how these buses are. Appreciate any knowledge on any of these questions

Oh my better get rid of I will but it for cheap.....

I have an 05 Thomas with the same engine. Really love it great bus, although a little more power would be nice. Do not believe the HP on the tag on the valve cover. Thomas can lower that rating, mine is set at 210hp. The tag above the windshield should say something like MBE906210 The last three are the hp Thomas has set it at.

Ok EGR came out for the 05 buses, so you should not have egr. This may or may not be true for other makes or brands of engines, but I have this to be true for Thomas with the Mercedes 906. If yours is a California bus that might be different. So just to be sure look on the drivers side of the engine, there will be 2 silver tubes about 2 inches in diameter right above the exhaust manifold. These are about 2ft long. This is the EGR cooler. You should not have it.
