2005 dt466 identify this part

I have a 2005 DT466 engine and I am looking to identify this part.

The first image is the stock image of the DT466 with the part circled.
the second image is a pic of my engine. The pic is of the pipe that runs from the water pump (i think) to the unidentified/circled part.
What is that part circled?
Is a dent supposed to be in that pipe?

thanks
Kevin

Part circled is the oil cooler. Pipe should be for coolant, should it be dented, probably not but it's a curious dent that doesn't seem to have bent the whole line. It also does not appear to be really missing any paint like I would expect if it was highly stressed. Perhaps it should be there.

I've heard a school of thought before that restrictors are required for some cooling system applications, the GM 6.5l diesel is one such engine I know has one in the supply for the heater core.

Here is a pipe with the same dent

Can anyone else verify they have the same situation.
I will ask the diesel shop where I get parts, but just curious
