'91 Bluebird Disc Brake Caliper

I'm having trouble identifying a part on my brake system. we're driving this northern arctic hwy and the key retention bolt on the rear left caliper breaks. besides the bolt, i lost the pads (which i have spares of), the lock (got from a jobber store), and what i call a "saddle" (maybe a spring), one on top & bottom, that the caliper sits in. This is the part i can't id. i've had 2 different drawings of the brakes sent to me but can't see this part(s). nothing appears broken on the caliper or casting. the brakes are Bendix disc brakes, the # on the caliper casting is 4150844 (secondary # 7254). i have pics but am new with this.

Re: '91 Bluebird Disc Brake Caliper

i called the guy who sold me the bus and used to own a fleet. he told me that the part i called a "saddle" is called a block. it's a seperate piece(s) that sits between the caliper and the anchor (caliper support). i searched out this block and found a reference to it on a forum at pirate4x4.com and this seems to be it:

"If you have the Bendix style retainer with the h-block and bolt retainer for it, the top of the caliper sildes into the V in the top of the bracket, and the h-block is driven into the opening between the bottom of the caliper and the bottom of the bracket.
If you don't have the bolthole on the bottom and have a V in the bottom of the bracket too, you need to use the goofy Ford retainers with the rubber center in them which drive in top and bottom. The H-block was used until 10/85, the Ford style is later."

if this above image works, it's from their forum too, and looks like mine.
pretty certain i have the latter Ford style.

the guy who sold me the bus told me that there is an accessory kit that has this hardware and i should get be able to get it at any truck parts. i've already ordered, 3 different kits from napa, but none had these blocks. i've searched some sites with the #'s bluebird in quebec gave me, but they don't have the blocks in the pics i saw. i tried calling bendix directly yesterday & today, but just messages (i'll call them monday along with your connection, grey eagle)
in the meantime i'll continue to search out what # accessory kit goes with my brake system.

Re: '91 Bluebird Disc Brake Caliper

If it it actually canadian, some of the parts may well be different. Especially in diesel equipment, etc.
That is why sometimes truck or equipment is sometimes cheaper to buy but when you want parts, its waiting 2 months, and a lot of hassle.

Re: '91 Bluebird Disc Brake Caliper

had to leave where i was broken down in a hurry, so i clamped my rear brake line and tied up my caliper. didn't make it too far when the caliper came loose again but some HALiburton Angels got the wheels off, and the caliper was shot anyway. i did get a new caliper - but the brake line pulled out so i may need a new one of those. However, after bleeding my brakes (1st time), my brakes seem more solid then b4 all this as there was some "pulsing" probably caused by an old worn caliper. oh, i have to wear the dunce cap on that "saddle" - turns out that it's the pads that fit in where i thought another part went. so on we go... thanks for the help
