Comparision

All things being relatively equal, which is better? An 89 Chevrolet with a Detroit 8.2 L or a 98 Thomas Cummings 5.9 L? Thanks for any insights!

IMHO there is no comparison.

On the one hand you have an obsolete engine for which parts and service are basically not available and made of unobtainium.

On the other hand you have a very durable engine that is easy on fuel and has parts and service available in just about any community in the country.
