Correctly Measure Allison MD3060 Gear Oil +Check Trans

Hello, everyone.
We are new to our Cummins 8.3 Pusher with Allison MD3060 transmission. For a short time now, the CheckTrans lamp in the cockpit has been on when I turn the key. When the engine is running, the lamp is off again. I checked the oil level with the engine stopped. then I can see pink oil on the dipstick. But when the engine is running and I measure, there is nothing left on the dipstick. Is that normal? Or does Check trans indicate that the oil level is too low?

Thanks very much

Running at normal operating temperature and check on level ground. Don't just start it cold and check.

short version

sounds like you are low on fluid level.

now, go online and find an operator's manual for your transmission and read the entire thing. then go back and look at how to check fluid level.

when you have time, read the manual a second time.
