2004+ DT engine sensor map

I got this sensor map for units starting 2004. It really puts things into perspective with regards on how it is all tied together.

If I can find one pre 2004 I will post it up.

I was reading thru a troubleshooting manual and found some good detailed information on the IDM circuitry. Again this is for a 2004+ bus but should be close enough.

The International doc# is EGES-270-1, 665 pages.

I posting pages 485-494 which speaks directly about the IDM.
It also says that DTC 525 is an IDM failure...replace IDM...??

I hope not!

EGES-175-1 Injector driver ckt

Here some more tech info on the Injector Driver circuits.

International doc - EGES-175-1

cut and paste info..

Diagnostic Trouble Code 515
ATA Code SID 151 FMI 6

Bank 1 Low Side Short to Ground or B+
Diagnostic Trouble Code 515 indicates that the ECM
has detected the low side driver for cylinders 1 through
3 has excessive current draw.
When Diagnostic Trouble Code 515 is active, the
driver for cylinders 1 through 3 will be disabled. The
ECM will compensate for engine misfire to keep the
engine running. Diagnostic Trouble Code 515 will
cause the Engine Warning light to be illuminated.

Diagnostic Trouble Code 521
ATA Code SID 152 FMI 6

Bank 2 Low Side Short to Ground or B+
Diagnostic Trouble Code 521 indicates that the ECM
has detected excessive current draw on the low side
driver for cylinders 4 through 6.
When Diagnostic Trouble Code 521 is active, the
driver for cylinders 4 through 6 will be disabled. The
ECM will compensate for engine misfire to keep
the engine operating and will illuminate the Engine
Warning light.

2 codes down and one to go, sounds like progress!

Is she still running/ idling rough?

That white wire, was it conected to battery ground by any chance?
It it does, I would follow it out to the other end. It more than likely would be ganged with other ground wires, Ecm/idm just to mention a few. The ground connection on the other side might need attention.

I was finished reading a post on another forum that speaks about this.

White wire was probalay battery ground although it went to battery cutoff switch I think it was tied into ground . Yeah that’s good I’ll follow it through . Man I think now the shorted and set off all these codes . Only thing that really make sense to me now . Also when I drove the bus home a few years ago I had about 4 hours of driving on i10 only getting up to max 40mph and guages were sweeping . I wonder if they shorted Then too
