Question Early to Mid 2000s, Best Motor Choice?

So I'm currently shopping for a 4x4 Class 8 Truck. I know school buses basically never existed 4x4 but they do utilize the same engine options that I'm looking at. The problem with 4x4 is that the market is extremely limited in general, and 99% of the options are newer than 2000.

Newer than 2000 means that an entirely mechanical motor is out of the question. That being said I was curious what peoples preference was regarding the Early to Mid 2000s motor options. Basically I'm comparing the:

-DT466E (with HEUI)
-CAT 3126 (with HEUI)
-CAT C7 (with HEUI)
-Cummins 8.3 (common rail)

From what I've seen the earlier Cummins 8.3 (with the CAPS) is not worth buying over the newer HPCR 8.3, thats why I didn't add it to the list, but if you have an opinion that involves that I'm open to all suggestions.

Class 8 truck wont have any of those engines in it.. a Class 5-7 truck would ..

any of the above engines are good ones.. the 466E is prob the most popular, many of the freightliner FL series trucks did come with various CAT motors or Mercedes.. but the majority were cummins 5.9

I guess it would be Class 7. Most of what I'm seeing is International 7300/7400, Freightliner M2s and or FL60/70/80, some Fords, some GM and a Sterling Acterra
