Re: Engine deciisions Cat 3116

My suggestion would be to just replace the head gasket. Check all the parts for condition AND PUT IT ALL BACK TOGETHER. The engine is easy to work on and in a good position. Repair is the cheapest fix. An Allison transmission cab be bolted to ANY engine, with the correct adapter. Visit a big rig truck repair shop or a truck supply place. If possible, buy a used engine for a great deal on an engine. The future plans for your ride will determine, how much money to spend. Change the head gasket, with some help or guidance. Care, patience and determination can solve most challenges. A large repair will make ya know about your ride. Frank

Re: Engine swap question

Agreed: just fix yours, or get a different bus. It's really not worth doing a repower on a skoolie, most of the time.
