Gmc savana 3500 short bus security lockout

So my 1999 savana 3500, with a vortex 350 has a pass lock issue. I can't seem to bypass it so I'm going to replace it. Anything I should know about this. Any one had any experience with gmc pass lock 2?

I want to think you can bypass this with a resistor of a specific value that makes it think the correct key is in the ignition switch. You take an ohmmeter and read the value of the chip in the key, and then at the bottom of the steering column is an orange cable that contains two wires, you cut the cable open and solder a resistor the same value as the key between those two wires.

This "might" be a cheap fix to your issue. Will not cost much to try it.
