How to tell engine size?

Hi there Skoolie fam 😊

I'm assuming this is a 9.0L V8 since that's what came stock in the S1853 International which is what this is but...how can I tell?

Sorry to ask a dumb question and thanks for input.

Not a 9.0 based on a couple casual observations.

1. I see 6 lines from the injector pump, along with ...
2. A Straight-6 engine configuration.

The 9.0 was a V8, which ended production in 1987. You're likely a DT466 or possibly a DT360, both of which were good engines. The DT466 still has a lot of aftermarket support.

Engines, transmission, vehicles, etc. all have identifying numbers on them somewhere.

Find the attached plate or sticker and it will give you the information you need to contact the manufacturer/dealer and determine exactly what you have. This is important as even though a lot of things are the same, some things change, even in mid-year of production. Having this information will assist parts people better assure you get exactly what you need.

I think the easiest is to get the VIN off the vehicle, contact a dealer and see if they will send you all the stats on your vehicle.

Spec plate will be on the top of the valve cover on a DT motor.

the valve cover on the original post looks like a DT360
