Back in 1976 my landlord, who also built my bike race motor, and I set a world record for a radio controlled airplane. He built a "Mr Mulligan" with a 9' wingspan and large fuel tanks. He had a brand new Chevy Silverado that he hooked up an auto computer that monitored fuel mileage and many other parameters. He hooked up a manual choke cable to his distributor. That way when on the highway, you could adjust the timing to get the best MPG at the time. We put a cushy couch in the back of the truck. Here's where the plane came in. I drove the truck with him in the back flying the plane. We left the San Fernando Valley, Ca. and headed to Las Vegas, him in the back flying the plane. I would stop for gas in the truck while he circles the station. We made it to Vegas non stop with his plane.
