location of most bus engines

Hello,

I am dreaming of jumping into this world one day but as I browse listings, I am wondering how accessible most engines are? For someone that is pretty mechanically inclined, what is the level of skill required to work on these?

Some engines are more accesseble than others. Conventional is probably easiest to get to. (FE is hardest Front Engine flat-face)

7 bus types.

If you can fix a car, you can do basic bus stuff.

I have a Bluebird RE and a Dodge 3500 5.9.

The Bluebird is generally easier to work on. Many of the parts and pieces are bigger and heavier but they are easier to access.

If you have good basic mechanical skills you can do a lot on your bus.

As Rusty said, conventional (dognose) buses have the best engine access followed by rear engine(RE) and the toughest would be a front engine(FE).
