PCV oil catch can question.

On my 3126 turbo CAT I've got this wee bit if IHC technology...

It's hooked up to where the PCV on the valve cover would go and the bottom of the can plumbs into the oil pan.

So I opened it up today -- it contains a fancy micro-mesh filter. And I drained out the can (before I realized it's probably self draining) which didn't have more than a couple tablespoons of oil in it.

The filter had a build date of 2013. Is there any routine maintenance required for this?
Since it's not part of the standard CAT 3126 it's not covered in my manual.

Probably catches the "slobber"?
Just keep it emptied would be my guess. But that's all it is lol.

Could be a slobber catcher... the slobber tube usually drops straight down from the valve cover.

emission laws required the oil laden crankcase fumes to no longer be vented directly to the atmosphere
