I am looking at a mid to late 90s Saf-t-Liner or Bluerbird that is said by the owner to need transmission work. If it needed a new torque converter, how much could I expect to pay? And what kind of shop can do the work?
Any heavy truck place should be able to work on it.
Costs would be around 100 bucks an hour. To change the torque converter, you're looking at a couple hours plus parts, figure around a grand or more. And that's if it's the torque converter and not the transmission itself.
Unless you're doing the work yourself, look for a different bus.
