Quebec's SAAQ

Hey folks!

We're currently looking into buying our 1st school bus to start a conversion, but the Quebec rules look very steep! Specially about the seats and seat belts! (And we also want to go with a composting toilet!)

Do you guys in Quebec have any resources or forum or anything about the SAAQ requirements (not the one listed on the SAAQ website) and how to pass that examination ?

That may be the reason the Skoolie scene isn't that big in Quebec...

Cheers,

Jonathan

Hi Jonathan - have you made any progress on your Skoolie and SAAQ certification? If so, can you share any lessons learned,
thanks

In short: don't even start the process with the SAAQ!!! You'll spend hours emailing an engineer, and when _you think_ you're making progress: BAM! That wasn't the way to do it! You need to start again from scratch!

So, buy an RV, or buy a school bus, re-register it as a Class 3 Perso (Lourd personnel), get that driving license class and voila!

Hey Jonathan,

we are in Montreal, preparing to buy our bus (hopefully!) in May, trying to figure some things out, too. So you are getting your class 1 drivers license? Or what s your solution? Seems like they SAAQ sucks with this! We were evening considering putting a black water tank (that is possible to connect) just for show...
I just wasn't sure, if we simply leave it as a heavy vehicle, and not recreative, do we have to do a mechanical exam every single year??
