2000 MH is motorhome.. it has a Parking Pawl.. a 'P' position.. a 2500 PTS is a school bus version with slightly wioder ratio gears for school bus.. this affects your first 3 gears.. 4th is still 1:1 and 5th is still 0.74:1

some of the 2400 were SAE2.. in fact any of them could be built SAE2 so watch for that.. getting the transmission serial number then looking it up on "my allison" will help...

around 2010 started transmissions requiring SEM.. allison calls it ShiftSense.. those wont run standalone..

2008/2009 in my opinion are the best... 4th gen TCM's 6 speed capable.. or you just buy the electronics with 6 already unlocked.. thats what i did..

6th gear is well worth it.. you can gear down the rear... with 5th and 6th being so close together in ratio it makes for a perfect cruising gear set... you can bounce between 5th and 6th with little driveability change yet the few hundred RPM change is perfect for smaller inclines and such...

im going to regear mine down from 3.54 to 4.10 so i can better make use of 6th..

I wouldnt count on that box truck having a 3000. Its possible and if this was after 03, i would think it had a 2000 series as the kodiaks had column shifters hooked up to 2000. Typically i see these trucks having the wtec2 keypad if they have an allison 3000. My guess would be that this truck has a mt643 or at545 if its really an allison.

Those comm trucks are awesome. Its kind of crazy how they have the huge dually tandam axle, for the box and no fifth wheel. Also an ISX to pull it. Compensating much? I want one for a mobile office that can pull a large bulldozer behind it on a pintle..

Without a pic of the trans, I wouldn't bank on anything. I do know that a 3000 wouldn't have that shifter fyi. Likely an at545, but could be an mt643. It could have had either with a 26k gvw. Can't tell the which from the VIN, can't tell the HP either, and the door sticker omitted the trans option.

Best to inspect first hand before buying.

In my experience FE vs RE is in the axle. Engine and trans are no different. Might have differences in fans, coolers, accessories, etc. But the base engine/trans is the same.

Verify it's 6 speed and a 6bt, but the swap won't be any more difficult then any other swap out there on the basis of it being an RE bus.

I haven't been following to close to this thread but the ISB in the ad was manufactured in Jan. 2006, with an EGR, and is not a 6BT 12 valve which I believe is what you have. It doesn't give an allison serial number, so the factory 6 speed can't be verified.

You could make that work, I however would not, as 6000 is outrageous for a takeout.

its a 3060, off of another bus, with a 5.9 cummins. thats all i know. about 10 hours from me.

he sent a picture of a tag, and i dont have an Allison account to go look this up with.

i havent really considered a 3060 since an earlier comment talked about obsolete wtec2 or something like that....

i did transpose that number wrong, my bad.

if the 3060 is on an isb, then will it have the conversion bit? sae2 plate onthe back of the cummins?
or is tht sae3 bell housing specific to the engine block?

what about programing? the 2000s had different tunable programs, is that the same on a 3060?

my inclination with the different bellhousing is to stick to my original plan with the 2000. the 3000 is probably a better trans, but i know less about whats going on with a conversion.
