Tried that, no go. The former owners had way over torqued the thing putting it on and then, apparently didn't believe in maintaining their equipment, because that filter had been on there for years. A testament to the durability of the original equipment, not the smarts of the previous owners.

Unless under warranty and a specific coolant is mandatory to remain in warranty (doubtful) I would never use anything in a diesel except Extended Life Coolant (ELC) with at least a 500,000 mile rating for corrosion coverage. It's the best thing I did to my Ford Power Stroke 7.3 (same basic engine as the International T444E)
