Cutting a hatch for the fuel strainer on a Minotour

Conversion is a 2003 Thomas Minotour, Ford 7.3 diesel.

I’ve seen mention in a few places of cutting a hatch in the floor, above the fuel tank, to make it easier to access and replace the fuel strainers. Has anyone done this, or can anyone point me to a walkthru where someone has? I’m trying to suss out where i should cut, how big the hatch should be, and how people have handled re-sealing it when they’re done.

Grateful, if you have any pointers. Thanks!

Most buses have an access panel above the fuel tank fitted by the manufacturer.

If yours doesn't you will need to locate the tank and the placement of the fittings, and cut access in the floor directly above. If a cross-member is in the way you are out of luck and will need to drop the tank for service.
