Feedback/comments on

I’m interested in purchasing a short bus with this wording in ad;

1) As a novice the seller seems to have upgraded some items on an engine that gets decent reviews
2) what should I look out for and ask about?

Engine & Bus Specs-
2005 6.0 Powerstoke Turbo Diesel E-450 dually 5 window short bus
116k miles
Upgraded Warren 155cc injectors with upgraded spool valve
EGR Deleted
Dual alternators with 2 - 2 year old batteries
Upgraded Oil Cooler
Custom 4" Turbo backed Diamond exhaust
Upgraded Atlas 40 tunes FICM with 3 year warranty
Custom Tune
New oil switch
Updated dummy plug and stand pipe
Blue spring update
Two new 10ply front tires
New upper and lower front ball joints
New fluids and filters
New carrier bearing and U joints
Upgraded aluminum drive shaft

Appreciate all any feedback.

Lot of info on the motor, almost none on the bus. Asking price is a huge factor in determining if it's a deal or not.

The 6.0 is a terrible motor from the factory but it looks like he addressed the primary things that kill them (the EGR and oil cooler). The head studs were another part that was not in the list. After the bulltproofing process, they can actually be really good motors. Without those modifications, they're grenades with loose pins.

Like marc says, not much on the actual bus. This is probably the first 6.0 bus listing that I don't immediately so "run away" just because of the motor.

Thanks “broke down” - the build out on the bus is subjective that’s why it’s the engine I am concerned about. Thanks very much for your input

I'm not as well versed with the 6.0, except that "as-built" they had a few issues that could lead to a destroyed engine if not addressed. The process of addressing these issues is often referred to as "bulletproofing" the engine, which I understand to have excellent reputations afterward.

It seems this engine has had this work done (at no small cost, but *VERY* much less than a new engine), as such, it's one of the few 6.0's that I would consider/recommend. All I can suggest is *DO YOUR RESEARCH ON THE 6.0 BEFORE BUYING* and make an informed decision. This forum has had more than one member buy a 6.0 equipped vehicle and not even make it home before the engine self-destructed (and one quote for a replacement engine was in the $25K territory. You read that right, Twenty-Five Thousand bucks. Not twenty-five-hundred.)

It is my understanding that the main faults in the stock 6.0 are the oil cooler and her cooler. The head studs appear to be a bigger problem for people who modify for additional power.

I would not have a 6.0 without a "bulletproof " kit in it.

Google "bulletproof powerstroke 6.0" and you will find a wealth of information.

Good luck.
