Question - Can I remove this?

Not a drivetrain question, but probably mechanically related.

Ford E-350

What's behind this bump? I want to put a passenger seat right next to the driver's seat and can use a double Transit seat with integrated seatbelts, but I want to know what's behind the wall and whether I can move it back a bit to give the passenger more leg room.

Thanks!

What’s behind door #1?

Simplest way to find out if you could would be to pop ‘er off and look. I’m assuming you can’t.

To me it looks like a part of the doghouse. Essentially a housing in the interior that allows clearance of the engine and trans bell housing on van and transit FE style buses and some dog noses. There might be enough clearance to customize yours so that it’s flush with the larger portion but you need to ensure there’s adequate heat shielding and airflow around that piece so it can do it’s job.

I wouldn’t remove it, but I’d build around it. Just my $.02

Looks like the transmission tunnel, no it can't be moved.
