Unintended Acceleration

Hey Ford powertrain gurus, I have an 2017 E350 chassis Box truck (yes...I know it's not a skoolie, but hear me out) with the 6.8L V10. This past Saturday my friend/partner was taking it to our storage to pick up some gear for a show. He stopped at the gate, put the truck in park, entered his code and the gate started to open, he pushed the brake pedal and shifted to Drive. Suddenly the truck went to 100% throttle. He "stood on the brake pedal" and the engine calmed down after roughly 5 excruciatingly long seconds. He crashed through the gate and did a little damage to both the gate and the truck.

The question is, has anyone here every experienced anything similar with a 6.8L V10 powered vehicle? Just trying to do my homework.

Thanks,

Anthony

with something like that first thing id do is take it straight to the deasler(like now) and explain what happened and have them read the history out of the computers..

then id check the floor mats and make sure a mat and a shoe didnt just end up in the wrong places and push the pedal down...

a lot of cases of unintended acceleration have happened as a result of floor mats gettin in the wrong place..

Thanks for the reply.
No floor mats in the box truck. It also has a shift interlock that requires you to push the brake to get out of park. I'm stumped. I've driven the truck for 12K plus miles without any sort of an issue like that.

I'm trying to get an appointment at a Ford dealer. They're all slammed around here.
